The production phase itself is split up into 3 sections:Pre-production: planning, design, storyboarding, casting etc.Production: the actual shooting of the trailer.Post-production: editing the trailer together, adding sound and special effects.
The Pre-production phase consists of planning what we will be doing for our production stage. This way when we reach the production stage it will be easier as it will be thoroughly planned out. We will also spend a large amount time on the post-production stage to make sure that our final product reflects a film of the genre.
We used Windows Movie Maker to edit our trailer as we are both relatively experienced with the programme and it has all the relevant functions to edit our footage accordingly.
Here's a screenshot of us using the programme. We were able to crop shots and piece them together with different effects and shot transitions to get the best effects possible. It then allows you to lay over sound just by dragging and dropping so it was easy for us to experiment with different songs to accompany the footage. We spent a long time on putting the footage together as it was very important that we used all our shots effectively with the right cut edits and order of shots. The programme also allows you to change the lighting on certain shots. This was very useful as it meant we could darker sadder scenes to make them seem more grim and duller.
For example we darkend our establishing shot as our character is upset and supposed to be greiving, therefore it wouldn't be right if the sun was shining and the day appeared to be nice. So darkening the shot added to the sadness of the shot and supported the way our character is feeling. The iconography supports the theme of mourning.
